Weather Situation
A cold front embedded in a northwesterly airflow will dissipate as it slides
past the state overnight. A stronger cold front will approach during Monday
causing the northwesterly flow to strengthen. The front is then expected to
cross the state on Tuesday morning with a vigorous west to northwest flow
persisting through the remainder of the day and into Wednesday as a very deep
and broad area of low pressure passes well south of the Bight. A further front
is then expected to cross Tasmania overnight and into Thursday morning as the
deep low moves slowly eastward across waters well to the southwest.

Forecast for the rest of Sunday 27 July
Showers about the west with more isolated showers about the north. Mainly fine
over the remainder. Possible thunderstorms in the late evening about the west
coast. Cool with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.

Forecast for Monday 28 July
Showers about the north and west with the chance of thunderstorms. Mainly fine
elsewhere. Cool, although locally mild about the east, with fresh northwesterly

Forecast for Tuesday 29 July
Showers about the north and west, extending statewide in the morning. The
chance of thunderstorms about the north and west during the morning. Cool with
fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 July
Showers, more widespread about the west. Cool to mild with fresh to strong and
gusty northwesterly winds.

Forecast for Thursday 31 July
Showers, mainly contracting to the west, far south and Bass Strait during the
afternoon and evening. Showers falling as snow to 600 metres. Cool with fresh
west to northwesterly winds.
